Program

There will be a pre-conference on medical education session held Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Also planned for that occasion is Students’ Day, activities for which have been planned by the medical students.
The Conference education program itself consists of plenary, break-out and poster sessions as well as workshops. Workshops will deal with such diverse topics as "Indigenous General Practice Registrars Network in Australia", the "Healing Power of Giving" and "Holistic Model of Wellness". There will also be panel discussions on the topics of traditional medicine and sovereignty/colonization.
Break-out sessions will follow thematic tracks such as medical education, workforce development, research, and cancer.
The facilitated poster sessions will feature many varied topics with the authors on hand to explain their posters and to answer questions which may arise.
As the Conference will be held on Salish Nation Territory, we are pleased that some Conference sessions and activities will also be held at the beautiful Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre, adjacent to the Four Seasons Resort. The Centre was developed jointly by the Squamish and Lil’Wat to share their cultures with the world.
On the social side, there will be a welcoming reception held during the evening of Thursday, August 26. Delegates will be free to participate in a variety of activities the Resort has to offer Friday evening, August 27, and there will be a cultural evening held Saturday, August 28. There will be a number of activities planned to add to your Conference experience.
